Vitis rotundifolia - Muscadine Grape 'Katuah' - 10+ Seeds - Madison County, NC Ecotype
Vitis rotundifolia is an amazing choice for a native edible plant! Grapes are super sweet and plants begin to produce abundantly after several years. Muscadine grapes were one of the first cultivated native plants here in the southeast.
This is not your ordinary muscadine grape!! 'Katuah' is a cold hardy variety of muscadine located and grown by Chuck Blethen of the Jewel of Blue Ridge Vineyard. This Madison County ecotype can survive very cold winters and produces abundant crops of sweet grapes.
Seeds are open pollinated. Muscadine is dioecious, meaning you may end up with a male or female vine. Female vines may be imperfect or perfect self pollinating, while male vines may potentially be sterile.
Muscadine grows better in native soil with accumulated organic matter, as opposed to most other grape varieties which prefer mineral soil exposure.
Cultivation Guidelines:
Light: Bright direct light.
Restricted Range: Will not survive soils that frequently flood.
Growing Medium: Native soil, loam soils, clay soils.
*We do not ship non-carnivorous plant seeds west of the Mississippi.
