Chamaecyparis thyoides is commonly known as Atlantic White Cedar. Atlantic White Cedar is a late successional and evergreen canopy species found within acidic wetlands along the Atlantic coast. This species may reach around 100 feet tall in ideal conditions.

Trees can develop a beautiful conical shape with impressive green-blue glaucous foliage. Atlantic White Cedar aids in the preservation of native bog type ecosystems by filling the role of a native dominant canopy species. Historically this species was heavily logged and as a result few merchantable size timber trees remain. Consider reintroducing Atlantic White Cedar to your property! It is estimated that due to early logging activities and ongoing wetland draining we have lost 400,000 acres of Atlantic White Cedar wetlands.

Young trees must be protected from deer browse. Trees are approximately 1 foot tall. Random selection from New Jersey Ecotype.

Cultivation Guidelines:
Light: Bright direct light for most of the day.
Restricted Range: Prefers freshwater wetlands, bogs, wet soil.
Growing Medium: Native soils.
