In nature this tree grows in the shade as an understory tree, however it can thrive in sunny conditions given proper care. Showy pink flowers emerge in the spring followed by broad heart-shaped leaves!

Papery pods form which break to reveal seeds.

This tree fixes nitrogen to the soil and it is not an aggressive spreader.

Cultivation Guidelines:
Light: Prefers part shade but can tolerate bright direct light.
Restricted Range: Adaptable, prefers rich moist soils.
Growing Medium: Native soil, loam soils, variable.
